When Should I Use Cold Therapy?

The Vulkan Cooling Pack can simply be placed in the freezer when pain and swelling relief is required. Cold therapy works to reduce blood flow to the affected area in order to reduce inflammation. The cooling pack also lessens nerve activity whilst in contact with the injury, which also works to minimise pain. Cooling packs are great for injuries such as sprains and strain, but should not be used to relieve muscle stiffness. It's also important not to use cold packs if you suffer from poor circulation.

When Should I Use Heat Therapy?

Heat therapy is a great way to soothe muscle aches, stiffness, cramps, and tension. Heat encourages blood flow to the affected area, which in turn soothes pain, increases muscle flexibility, and heals damaged tissue. When using heat therapy, you should always aim for 'warm', rather than 'hot', to avoid burning during prolonged use.

Heat therapy is ideal for users with Arthritis, as it can reduce joint stiffness, increasing pliability and minimising discomfort. Simply pop the Temperature-Changing Pack in the microwave until it reaches your desired temperature, place back into the protective sleeve, and secure to the affected area using the velcro strap to kickstart the healing process.
