How Does the SOT Right Hand Splint Work?

The SOT Right Hand Splint has a number of anatomical benefits to increase hand mobility and aid muscle recovery:

  • Regular use of the splint stimulates relaxation of the spastic hand and/or reduces pain.
  • Provides protection for patients who benefit from the wrist in a neutral position, avoiding lengthening of weak or paralyzed muscles.
  • By the well distributed pressure on volar and dorsal side of the hand and arm, the splint prevents and eliminates swelling

How Do I Use the SOT Right Hand Splint?

We recommend that the SOT Right Hand Splint be fitted by a qualified fitter of supports and splints, including GPs and your Consultant:

  1. Position the hand into the orthosis. Make sure that the thumb is in a correct position and start by applying the strap over the wrist.
  2. Then adjust the strap in sequences so that it gives a comfortable feel and does not give any proximal pressure.
  3. An extra strap around the wrist can be added to give a better fixation over the wrist if needed due to increased spasticity.
  4. Make sure that the orthosis is comfortable and does not create any chafing or is too tight.
  5. For more intricate details, please consult the product sheet located at the bottom of the page.
