Features of the Special Needs Infant Model

The Special Needs Infant Model is a life size representation of a new born for use in training care techniques. The level of detail and realism included with the Special Needs Infant Model makes ideal for use in medical training scenarios and other educational environments.

The Special Needs Infant Model can be used for a variety of procedures and with a range of equipment, including: tracheostomy tubes and suction catheters, gastrostomy tubes, nasogastric tubes, and urethral catheters. The Special Needs Infant Model can also be used for practising general care such as bathing, nappy changing, and dressing care.

The following procedures can be practised with the Special Needs Infant Model:

• Tracheostomy Care (placement and suctioning) - size 3 mm
• Gastrostomy Care (lavage and gavage) - size 14 FR
• Nasogastric Care (placement, lavage, gavage, and suctioning) - size 8 FR or smaller
• Urethra catheterisation (insertion, placement, and care) - size 8 FR
• Colostomy stoma (basic care purposes only)

The Special Needs Infant Model is available either as a male or female.
