Will The Mediflow Water Base Pillows Improve My Neck and Back Pain?

The majority of the UK will suffer from back or neck pain at some point in their lives, so if you're struggling to sleep at night because of it, you aren't alone. The Mediflow Water Base Pillows are clinically proven to actually reduce neck and back pain and improve the overall quality of your sleep. We can't stress enough the effectiveness of these pillows, and if you don't believe us, check out the reviews on the bottom of this page.

Will the Mediflow Pillows Improve Sleep Quality?

The Mediflow Water Base Pillows will improve your sleep. Don't just take our word for it though, have a look at this study by sleep experts at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. The study revealed that the Mediflow Water Base Pillow ranked first when measured for effectiveness against competing orthopaedic pillows. The scientists conducting the study concluded with these four statements:

  • The best overall pillow in all aspects of sleep tested.
  • The pillow restores energy, improves sleep, and reverses fatigue.
  • The pillow freshens appearance, rejuvenates skin and eases wrinkles.
  • The pillow will soothe daily stresses and provide uninterrupted sleep.

Why Should I Choose the Mediflow Orthopaedic Pillows?

The Mediflow Orthopaedic Pillows are proven to improve sleep quality and reduce neck and back pain to an extent not seen in other orthopaedic pillows. The pillows have been proven to help reduce not just neck and back pain, but a wide range of other conditions too. Some of these conditions include:

  • Neck pain
  • Whiplash
  • Concussion
  • Poor quality of sleep
  • Stiff neck
  • Back pain
  • Migraines
  • Cervical stenosis

The Mediflow Pillows are designed to improve sleep quality by reducing the pain felt in your upper back and neck. However, this doesn't mean that if you don't suffer from back that you shouldn't use these pillows. They provide unparalleled comfort, and have been proven to provide uninterrupted sleep that can work wonders to your sleeping pattern.

How Do I Use the Mediflow Water Base Pillows?

The Mediflow Water Base Pillows are fairly easy to use, and it shouldn't take you too long to get the hang of setting them up before bed. To get the full effectiveness of the Water Base Pillows, please follow the following instructions:

  1. Open the pouch underneath the pillow and fill to a level of your choosing
  2. Once you have filled the pillow to a level of your choosing close the pouch
  3. The more water you put in the pillow the firmer it will be

A Few Days to Settle In

Some users have reported instant relief, but remember that it may take a few attempts to fill the pillow up to a level of your choosing. We would also recommend giving yourself a few days to settle into the different design of pillow, as your neck will need time to get used to the different shape. If you're still a little unsure of how to use the pillow, try giving the video a watch below:

How Do the Mediflow Water Base Pillows Work?

The Mediflow Water Pillows use an interior water pouch that, once filled, will mould specifically to the shape of your neck. Water is what makes this pillow so effective, as it offers a level of catered neck support that is impossible to achieve without the user of water. This extremely comfortable design will mould to your neck and body shape ensuring that no matter what your shape and size, a good night's sleep will be provided.

Do the Mediflow Pillows Feel Like Ordinary Pillows?

The most surprising thing about the pair of Mediflow Pillows is that they feel just like ordinary pillows while offering a level of comfort that ordinary pillows cannot provide. Despite the water-filled design, your head will not roll from side to side while asleep, rather sink softly into the pillow as if sleeping on foam. The similarities between the Water Base Pillow and an ordinary pillow can be seen below.

Mediflow Water Base Pillow
Mediflow Water Base Pillows Act Just Like Normal Pillows

Are the Mediflow Pillows Soft or Firm to Sleep On?

It's entirely up to you what level of firmness or softness that you want your Mediflow Pillows to be. By filling the interior pouch with more water, you can decide to have a slightly firmer pillow. Regardless of how much water you do add, however, the super soft polyester that lines the top of the water pouch will provide exceptional comfort to your head and neck, perfect for a good night's sleep.

Do I Have to Sleep on My Back to Use the Pillows?

The good thing about the Mediflow Base Pillows is that they don't require you to sleep a particular way. You can sleep on your side, back or stomach and the Orthopaedic Pillow will continue to support your head and neck throughout the night. In fact, if you toss and turn through the night, you'll still wake up in comfort.

Can I Use the Pillows for Migraine Relief?

If you suffer from migraines you'll be aware of how uncomfortable and debilitating that they can be. Migraines can be caused when the nerves in the neck become irritated, which can be brought on by neck pain, poor sleep or a bad pillow. By using the Mediflow Pillows you can improve your sleep posture and sleep quality, helping to prevent migraine triggers from developing.

How Long-Lasting are the Mediflow Water Pillows?

We understand that you don't want to be buying a new pillow every six months, and with the Mediflow Water Base Pillows you won't have to. They are designed with fibres that are designed to be durable, with DuPont polyester fibres layering an insulating layer that helps to provide a plumpness that won't be lost in time. If you're still a little worried then your purchase will be provided with a 30 day comfort guarantee and a three year warranty, perfect for providing a little peace of mind.

Why Should I Buy a Pair Rather Than Single Mediflow Pillow?

As most people in the UK at some point in their lives will suffer from neck or back pain, it's important to prepare for both you and your partner suffering at the same time. A pair of Mediflow Pillows enables you and your partner to share the same, comfortable experience while also preventing back and neck problems from occurring. Alternatively you can use a pair if you sleep alone to ensure an exceptional standard of comfort, perfect for reducing pain and enhancing the quality of your sleep.

How Do I Care For My Water Base Pillows?

Your pillows do not require anymore looking after than normal pillows, and will continue to provide exceptional comfort for years after purchase. Follow these specifications to ensure longevity:

  • Fit to a standard size pillow case.
  • Machine wash and dry.
  • No need to fluff pillow for comfort.

What Materials Are the Mediflow Water Base Pillows Made From?

The Mediflow Water Pillows feature three layers of different materials that helps to ensure longevity and comfort. The three layers are:

  1. A top layer of super-soft hypo-allergenic DuPoint polyester above the water chamber.
  2. A NASA developed thermal insulating layer that prevents water loss.
  3. The base of the pillow is a firmly secured water pouch that provides the responsive head and neck support.

Three layers of different materials ensure comfort, plumpness and catered pain relief

Could the Mediflow Pillows Cause Allergies?

The Mediflow Pillows use a super soft hypo-allergenic DuPont polyester liner that is layered above the internal water pouch that ensures the chances of allergies are extremely low. We would recommend using a hypo-allergenic pillow case if you do suffer from allergies, however the pillow itself is extremely unlikely to cause a reaction.

What Size are the Mediflow Pillows?

The Orthopaedic Pillows are large enough to fit standard pillow cases. Each singular pillow features a dimension of 50.5cm x 71cm. Singularly they weigh just 0.9kg (increasing with water), meaning that they are extremely easy to use.

Which Side of the Pillow Should I Lie On?

The Mediflow Pillow features a water valve on the underside, allowing you to fill the pillow to your ideal plumpness. It is recommended that you lie on the opposite side of the pillow for optimal comfort.

Could I Buy a Pack of Four if I Wanted?

If you're looking to buy more pillows, you could always buy the Mediflow Water Base Orthopaedic Pillow (Pack of Four), which come at a discounted price. Alternatively if you're just after the single pillow, then please see the Mediflow Water Base Orthopaedic Pillow listing for details.

I have not been able to use this pillow yet as I have found it impossible to remove the air bubble. I have tried mite than ten times following the guidelines but STILL the sloshing continues. I find the waterline, but just cannot manage to flatten the upper part to get rid of the air. The pillow is so puffy it is just too difficult. I really am very disappointed that this us probing so hard to do. Since the pilliw arrived I have spent probably hours attempting to get rid of this air pocket and I still have not managed it. I may never succeed,

Hi Elizabeth,

Many thanks for getting in touch. We're sorry to hear you're not satisfied with your purchase.

I have gotten in touch with the manufacturer of this product for you and relayed your issue. They recommended the following:

"Once filled with the correct amount of water, hold the pillow close to your body and remove air and replace the cap at the same time, ensuring a secure seal. The pillow will make a water sound as it does contain water. The lower the amount of water, the more the water will move. This is not caused by air, it is more the water moving within the pocket".

I hope this information helps and that it helps you get the most out of your purchase.

Kind regards,

Seth at Health and Care

These pillows are extremely comfortable. I have used these many years ago but was unable to purchase again. Am so glad that they are on the market now. I have had neck ache, shoulder ache, ear ache and various other aches using ordinary pillows. These aches have all disappeared. I would recommend in the strongest possible way to anyone who has problems with ordinary pillows.

I've only used one of the two pillows, delivered very quickly, so far.

Water filling could be easier but a little air left in the pillow doesn't cause problems.

If there's a small gap between mattress and headboard, the heavy water bladder tends to slump into it, making the pillow less comfortable.

The dacron fill above the bladder is very soft and very, very warm. On hot nights, I turned the pillow over and slept on the water bladder side, which was blissfully cool!

Overall, this pillow is not a magic bullet for my crush-damaged neck, but I am sleeping better than on a very, very hot memory foam pillow. Beware memory foam,, it's so very hot.

I'm going to try the second pillow with the bladder filled with air, rather than water.

I have had these pillows before and the first ones I bought were around £80 each (this was about 10 years ago). So to find them at £70 per pair at Health and Care was brilliant. I have had them on my water bed now for just under a week and can report sleep is good. And for ladies who suffer night flushes - you may find these helpful as the water has the added benefit of not being so hot as feather, down or foam pillows. Thoroughly recommend this product.
