SmartDose technology is revolutionary for a portable oxygen concentrator (POC), adjusting automatically to the amount of oxygen that you need, removing the need for you to fiddle with your oxygen constantly.

How Does the SmartDose Technology Work?

When you need supplemental oxygen, you don't always need the same flow – for example, sitting down can be less taxing on your lungs than walking about. Traditional POCs require the user to adjust the oxygen level while on the go, which can be fiddly and can prevent you from enjoying your time out and about.

The SmartDose technology used in the iGo2 removes this hassle from using your oxygen concentrator, adjusting the dose to your required level automatically. This means that, as your breathing becomes more laboured, the iGo2 automatically increases the flow of oxygen to compensate.

What Are the Benefits of SmartDose Technology?

Whether you are walking around the streets of Venice or just walking around your local park, there is nothing that can take you out of the moment as much as having to adjust your oxygen levels. Worse still, if you are not careful, your oxygen levels may drop before you are aware of it, which can cause you trouble.

The SmartDose technology aids in avoiding these issues, automatically adjusting the strength of your oxygen to match your breathing. The SmartDose system only increases your level of oxygen output, meaning your level of flow never drops below the threshold at which you've set it.

How Much Does the SmartDose Technology Adjust the Flow?

While the SmartDose technology is designed to adjust the setting of your machine, it can only increase the flow of your oxygen concentrator by one level. This allows you to better gauge how much battery your device has without having to worry about increased power consumption by an unanticipated rise in level.

How Do I Use the SmartDose Feature?

The SmartDose feature of the iGo2 Portable Oxygen Concentrator is not automatically selected and must be activated when setting your machine. To do this, simply set the machine to the level of output required (the DeVilbiss iGo2 has five levels – 1 to 5 – to choose from). Once you have set your desired level, press the "+" and "-" buttons simultaneously to activate the SmartDose mode (this will appear as the letter "d" next to your desired level number).

Please note that, due to the fact that the SmartDose technology only increases the level of airflow, it cannot be used on the highest setting of the oxygen concentrator (level 5).

Can I Use the DeVilbiss iGo2 without the SmartDose Technology?

While we would strongly recommend using the SmartDose technology to make the most out of your portable oxygen concentrator, it is not necessary to activate the technology to effectively use your device. This means if you want to be conservative with the battery of your device, or would prefer to have full control over your oxygen levels at all times, the iGo2 allows this.
