The heartwood of the White Ash has a light to medium brown colour, while the sapwood can be very wide and tends to be a beige or light brown. This type of wood has a medium to coarse texture, similar to oak, and the grain is almost always straight and regular.

What is Coppicing?

The Long Ash Thumbstick Hiking Stick is produced using the coppicing method, meaning that it is formed from the shoot that grows when the upper part of a young ash tree is removed. All of the sticks are grown in the woodland of the manufacturer in Somerset, England.
