What Vehicles Can Accommodate the Use of a Car Transit Wheelchair?

Community transportation ambulances and vehicles, mini-buses and other mobility-friendly vehicles will accommodate the use of a car transit wheelchair as long as the chair has crash-tested markings and anchor points for securing the chair onto the vehicle using anchoring straps. The Alerta Self-Propelled Chair is fully certified as crash-tested, has a clear marking that can be found on its frame, as well as anchor points.

What Is a Self-Propelled Wheelchair and Who Is It For?

A self-propelled wheelchair features large rear wheels which allow a disabled user to propel themselves. While this chair does have handles that allow the user to be pushed by a carer, it is mainly designed for the user to be able to manoeuvre the chair themselves without the need for assistance.
