PivoTell MK3 Automatic Pill Dispenser

Remembering to take medication at the correct time can be difficult for everyone, but it is particularly challenging for sufferers of dementia or Alzheimer's. The PivoTell MK3 Automatic Pill Dispenser is a handy aid that tells the user via an alarm and flashing light when they are due to take their next dose of medication. With up to 28 programmable alarms, the dispenser is an invaluable tool for concerned family members who want to ensure that their loved ones take their pills at the correct time.

Key Features and Benefits

  • Reminds you to take your medication via an alarm and flashing light
  • Makes the correct dosage available at the correct time of day or night
  • Keeps other pills locked out of sight, ideal for dementia or depressed users
  • Medication is dispensed from an internal tray containing 29 sections
  • Allows for a maximum number of 28 alarms
  • Pills are easy to remove simply by tilting the dispenser
  • Alarm is cancelled when the device is tilted and pills poured out
  • Widely used throughout the UK for a range of patients
  • Two or more compartments can be programmed to alarm at same time
  • Delays activation so family members can easily fill in advance away from user

  • Can be tested to ensure the aid works in between uses
  • Alarm sounds if a fault arises in the dispenser

How Do I Use the PivoTell Pill Dispenser?

The MK3 Automatic Pill Dispenser is extremely easy to use, making it suitable for elderly users. To use the dispenser, the user should follow these instructions:

  1. Fill each compartment with the required medications and set the required number of alarms.
  2. When the alarm sounds, the internal tray will rotate one position and the correct dosage will come into view in the opening.
  3. Remove the pills from the compartment by tilting it and pouring the pills into the hand or a suitable container.
  4. This will cancel the alarm signal and flashing light. Once all medication has been taken, please refill the dispenser as required.

Smart Design

The MK3 Automatic Pill Dispenser is crafted with a range of features that make it an excellent choice as a pill-dispensing aid. For example, the dispenser unlocks a single pill compartment at the allotted time and keeps the other pills in different compartments out of sight. This makes it particularly useful for users with dementia who are prone to confusion, or else users with depression who might attempt to harm themselves.

Care and Maintenance Instructions

The batteries should be changed when the low charge indicator is displayed. At normal usage, the batteries should last for at least 12 months. Four alkaline AA batteries should be used.

All pre-set functions (i.e. alarm times, alarm sound, etc) remain the same after the batteries are changed. Only the clock needs correcting if the batteries are left out for a lengthy period of time.

Dimensions

  • Diameter: 190mm
  • Height: 56mm
  • Weight (with batteries): 480g (approx. 1 lb)

I bought this to help my mother who has been taking a rather complicated course of chemotherapy with 6 different medications a day and it has been brilliant. It is easy to use once you get used to it and has been 100% reliable throughout a 6 months period. I whole heartedly recommend it.

Beware of cheaper imitations. This might cost more but it's well worth it.

Brilliant little thing, easy to set up and pretty much foolproof for the patient. Alarm sounds, tip up to empty pills and alarm stops till next dose. cannot see a flaw with it.

We bought one of these for my mother who needs prompting to take her pills. She was nervous at first, but after phoning her just before the alarm went off a few times, she now seems used to it. It dispenses 28 times - ie 14 times if pills are taken twice daily. It was a little fiddly to set up, and is rigid - you can't have different times for diferent days, or for weekly medication. That said, overall it has been a success and has removed an onerous task from my mother's care team.
