Who Can Use the DeVilbiss iGo2?
The iGo2 Oxygen Concentrator is an ideal choice for anyone looking for easy and effective oxygen therapy on the go. As such, it is suitable for a range of conditions that affect the lungs including:
- Chronic obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Emphysema
- Refractory Asthma

- Severe Kyphoscoliosis
- Severe Ankylosing Spondylitis
- Musculoskeletal Disorders with Respiratory Weakness
- Severe Lung Scarring
- Other conditions affecting the lungs/breathing that require supplemental oxygen
Please note that prior to using the DeVilbiss iGo2, it is recommended that you consult a medical professional to ensure it is suitable for your needs. The iGo2 is NOT designed for people who cannot breathe independently.
Lightweight, Portable Design – Ideal for Travel
Designed especially for travel, the iGo2 Portable Oxygen Concentrator is incredibly lightweight, weighing only 2.2kg and also features a compact design. With the included carrying case, the iGo2 can be taken with you discreetly and without discomfort.
The iGo2 has been deemed safe for use on planes by the FAA and can be taken on a number of different forms of transport, although we recommend checking with your transport company prior to any journeys. Click here to see our guide on where you can use the iGo2.
What Is SmartDose Technology?
The DeVilbiss iGo2 has two modes of operation: a standard mode and the cutting-edge SmartDose mode. The standard mode provides a fixed flow of oxygen while the SmartDose mode adjusts oxygen levels to suit your levels of activity.
For example, say if you are walking up a hill and find yourself getting short of breath, the SmartDose technology would detect this and temporarily increase your flow of oxygen. Once your breathing returns to normal, the iGo2 automatically adjusts your level of oxygen back down to its original level. This saves you from manually having to adjust your oxygen level or feeling low on oxygen.
Click here to see our guide to SmartDose Technology.
How Does the iGo2 Work?
The DeVilbiss iGo2 works by taking air from the environment and filtering out the oxygen, providing the user with concentrated, oxygen-rich air. This process requires no bottled oxygen supply and does not affect the air quality of the environment that you are in.
How Large Is the DeVilbiss iGo2?
Ideal for taking with you when you're out and about, the iGo2 Portable Oxygen Concentrator boasts a compact size that is so discreet, you'll almost forget you're wearing it!
- Height: 21.3cm (8.4")
- Width: 8.9cm (3.5")
- Length: 21.8cm (8.6")
- Weight: 2.25kg (4.95lb)
How Long Does the iGo2 POC Battery Last?
Although the iGo2 has been designed to be lightweight and compact, it has a surprisingly long battery life. Each fully-charged battery has a charge of at least 3.5 hours when used on "Setting 2", assuming 20 breaths per minute. The battery life is dependent on the setting of the machine and the rate of breath.
If you are looking for prolonged use away from a power source, we would recommend carrying a spare battery with you, which effectively doubles the length of time you can use the iGo2 away from mains power.
Five Settings for Varied Oxygen Flow
The iGo2 offers pulse flow oxygen delivery, which is more efficient than a continuous flow as it is based on the rate and intensity of your breathing. After a short burst of oxygen is released, the concentrator will wait for you to take another breath before the next burst of oxygen.
The iGo2 features five different settings with the higher numbers providing a greater amount of oxygen (see the table below for a breakdown). The SmartDose technology can be used on settings 1 - 4 (setting 5 cannot utilise SmartDose due to being the maximum amount of oxygen).
Setting | Fixed Minute Volume | Bolus Volume (20bpm) |
Setting 1 | 260ml | 13.0ml |
Setting 2 | 440ml | 22.0ml |
Setting 3 | 725ml | 36.3ml |
Setting 4 | 880ml | 44.0ml |
Setting 5 | 1014ml | 50.7ml |
We recommend checking with a medical professional before using the iGo2 to find out which setting is right for your condition.

The iGo2 can be placed in its carry case and slung over your shoulder to be used throughout the day or when travelling. The case is even designed so that you can access the LCD screen and controls at all times, making it easy to check the battery life or change your settings whenever necessary.
Is Setting Up and Using the iGo2 Easy?
