What Is the Function of the OAX/E Eye Test Chart?

This eye-test chart features two test types with the same function, but differing designs. Both of these test types are ideal for visual acuity testing and assessing a patient's clarity of vision. The two test types are as follows:

• OAX Test Type: a vision test with rows of letters gradually decreasing in size. Patients undertake this test by sitting six metres away and reading aloud the letters as accurately as they can.
• Tumbling 'E' Test Type: a vision test with rows of 'E's in different positions. Patients undertake this test by using a card to demonstrate the position of the E as they move along the chart. This test type is more accessible for illiterate, mute, and non-English speaking patients.
