How Does Castellation Improve Pressure Relief?

Castellated foam (foam with small separations in a certain area to create a number of small, independently moving sections) is particularly useful for protection of skin, as it will move with the patient rather than pulling against the skin. This will help to greatly reduce shear forces, which is one of the key causes of pressure sore development.

Is This Mattress Suitable for Patient Transfers?

To further protect the skin of the patient, the cover is made with multi-stretch material that will help to reduce shear and friction forces.
