What Does The Samsoft 175 Do?

The Samsoft 175 is an electric hoist designed to move disabled users from one position to another. The attached carriage is stable and secure and the entire unit moves on 360° swivel castors for enhanced ease of movement.

How Does the 175 Electric Hoist Work?

Using a sling style carriage, the user enters the sling from their initial position on their bed or in their chair. Then, using the electronic handset, the operator raises the swing, lifting the user from their bed or chair. They can then be lowered into their wheelchair or on to the toilet using the reverse function on the remote once in position.

Transferring a Patient From a Bed to an Armchair

1. Position the patient on their side.
2. Place the sling under the patient.
3. Check the back part of the sling is correctly positioned (from shoulders to tail bone).
4. Lay the patient on their back.
5. Pass each leg support under each thigh and 
6. Position the patient lift at the patient’s level.
7. Hang each loop of the sling to the hanger bar hooks.
8. The patient can now be transferred from a bed to an armchair.

Transferring the Patient From an Armchair to a Bed

1. Lean the patient forward while holding him/her.
2. Slide the sling behind the patient’s back up to the tail bone.
3. Pass each leg support under each thigh.
4. Position the patient lift at the patient’s level.
5. Hang each loop of the sling to the hanger bar hooks.
6. The patient can now be transferred from an armchair to a bed.

How Do I Fold the Samsoft 175 Hoist Down?

The Samsoft 175 Electric Patient Hoist must be folded in order for it to be safely transported. The folding method is similar to the assembly method (unfolding), but must be carried out in reverse order:

1. Loosen the adjusting screw.
2. Press the lowering key on the handset to fold the boom until the hanger bar ball joint is facing the mast clip.
3. Snap the ball joint into the mast.
4. Remove the pin and the mast safety shaft.
5. Remove the mast safety shaft.
6. Lower the mast/boom/hanger bar assembly onto the hoist legs.

• When positioning the sling, make sure it does not wrinkle at the leg level to prevent injury to the patient.
• Do not apply the brakes when lifting so that the patient lift can be positioned correctly in relation to the patient.
