Who Can Use the Birthing Simulator?

Offering a hands-on experience of labour and post-natal care, this model is ideal for teaching students about what happens before, during, and after childbirth, as well as how to deal with a range of complications that can occur during childbirth.

What Can You Teach With This Obstetric Manikin?

The birthing simulator is designed to recreate a realistic labour scenario for the purpose of teaching about the process of child birth. The simulator allows observation and practise of the full labour procedure, before, during, and after delivery. This includes basic processes from clamping and cutting umbilical cords, and removing placentas, as well as more complicated scenarios and procedures. Skills and processes that can be practised with the simulator include:

• Intubation of the adult figure
• Intubation of the natal figure (only available for the resuscitation baby)
• CPR for both the adult model and natal figure
• Providing medications and fluids via injections or IV drips
• Providing medications and fluids via the umbilical cord

How Are the Two Childbirth Education Models Different?

There are two models available for this birthing simulator, with the only difference being the type of baby manikin(s) you get with the birthing simulator. The M-1012417 model comes with an articulating birthing baby and resuscitation baby, while the M-100581 model comes with the birthing baby only. 

The articulating birthing baby enables basic practise of post-partum and natal care, including CPR and providing medicines and fluids. The resuscitation baby has an open airway for intubation practise, and an umbilical catheter site for training on taking blood or giving fluids and medicines via the umbilical cord. Both the birthing and resuscitation natal models feature a heart, lungs, and ribcage for clear anatomical landmarks, enhancing patient understanding by creating a more realistic practise.

What Is the Purpose Of the Omni Controller?

The Omni controller is used to monitor and operate the Noelle Birthing Simulator. With the Omni controller you adjust labour settings to allow practise in a wide range of birthing scenarios, as well as keep a record of vital signs during delivery to assess how the process went. Things you can do with the Omni controller include:

• Monitor the delivery process
• Use the CPR monitoring functions
• Set the duration of the labour (between 1 minute and 30 minutes)
• Control the foetal heart rate
• Set options for dystocia to enable practise during a more complicated labour scenario
