DeVilbiss Artemis II Dynamic Pressure Mattress With Pump
The DeVilbiss Artemis II Dynamic Pressure Mattress With Pump is a top-quality pressure distribution system ideal for preventing the development of pressure sores for patients who are bed-ridden. Suitable for both hospital and residential care environments, the mattress comes with an easy-to-use pump that offers a variety of functions, and two cushions for additional support and comfort.
Designed with a Low Weight Function, this pressure distribution system is suitable for use with children and patients weighing under 40kg.
What's Included?
- 1 x Pressure Mattress
- 1 x 18" Pressure Cushion
- 1 x 20" Pressure Cushion
- 1 x Pump
Please note: While the pressure distribution system is pictured with a bed frame, this is for illustrative purposes only. The bed frame is not included with this set.
Can I Use the Cushions and Mattress At the Same Time?
The cushions can remain on the bed while the mattress is in use, but as the pump only has one power chord it is not possible to have the mattress and cushions plugged in at the same time. There are two different sized cushions, 18" and 20". It is possible to buy an extra pump to power one of the cushions while the mattress is in use. You can also buy extra cushions in either size.
To find out more about the cushions, see the video below:
What Are the Functions Of the Pressure Pump?
The pump attachment enhances the pressure distribution system, offering a variety of settings and features to maximise comfort and effectivity.
Basic Functions
- Automatic Pressure Control: this function monitors patient weight every 60 minutes and adjusts pressure based on the results. The cell pressure on the Automatic Pressure Control can be adjusted via the comfort control system.
- Auto Seat Mode: this function works for the mattress only. When the bed's backrest is raised beyond 25°, internal cell pressures are increased by 10% for additional sacral support.
- Auto Surface Detection: as the pump is designed to work with either the mattress or the cushions, it features an automated system which recognises which surface it has been plugged into.
- Auto Lockout: after 2 minutes of inactivity the pump will automatically lock.
Pressure Redistribution Functions
- Alternating Therapy Mode: provides pressure relief over a 10-, 15-, or 20-minute cycle in an AB pattern.
- Constant Low Pressure (CLP) Therapy Mode: creates a static low-pressure surface for immersion into the mattress.
- Pulsation Mode: alternates between increasing and decreasing cell pressures by 30% while in CLP mode.
- Max Inflate Mode: automatically inflates all cells to the maximum pressure setting (ideal for moving and repositioning patients).

Audible and Visible Alerts
There are three alarms on the pump which offer audible and visible cues to ensure optimal and consistent usage:
- Egress Alert: once activated, this alarm will alert you if the patient has exited the bed.
- Power Failure Alarm: should the power fail, this alarm will sound out and light up the power failure LED on the pump.
- Service Interval Alert: this alarm activates after 365 days to remind you that a service of the pressure distribution system is due.
Once the alerts have been acknowledged, they can be muted. If the problem hasn't been rectified, then the alarm will turn back on after 20 minutes.
Why Is There a Low Weight Function?
The Low Weight Function is ideal for patients under 40kg, making this mattress suitable for children. This function reduces internal cell pressures to accommodate the lighter weight, while still helping to reduce the risk of pressure sores or contribute to the healing of tissue damage following their development.
Can This Mattress Be Used For Mobile Beds?
In the case of power cuts or when transfers are required, the pressure mattress system has a transport mode function. This allows for up to 10 hours of use once disconnected from the pump. For this function to work, the umbilical connector is disconnected, and the non-return valve within it seals to prevent air from escaping.
Replacing Lost or Broken Parts
You can buy the Artemis II Pump separately if needed. You are also able to purchase individual Artemis II Pressure Cushions in either available size.
