Locomotor Lateral Patient Transfer Slide Board

With tapered edges and a non-slip base, the Locomotor Lateral Patient Transfer Slide Board allows for easy insertion and removal. Designed to be used in conjunction with the Locomotor Transfer Sheet, it allows the patient to be moved safely and securely.

Who Can Use the Locomotor Lateral Patient Transfer Slide Board?

This board is intended to provide an even bridging surface, reducing the difficulty and risk of lateral transfers. It is typically used for transfers between a patient trolley and a bed, operating table or similar surface and is suitable for anyone up to 190kg.

How to Use the Locomotor Lateral Patient Transfer Slide Board

  • With the patient lying on an approved lateral transfer sheet (sold separately), apply tension to the sheet and position the patient at a 30º tilt. Insert the board from the opposite side of the horizontal surface (i.e. the bed or trolley the patient is lying on) and gently lower the patient until flat.
  • Position the surface that the patient is to be transferred onto alongside the patient, ensuring all brakes are on and working on both apparatus and that their surfaces correspond in height.
  • Ensure that the transfer board is over-lapping both surfaces (minimum 16cm contact on each surface), and minimise any gap between the surfaces.
  • Make sure that you use an approved lateral transfer technique, in accordance with transfer sheet/system adopted, and slide the patient from the first surface to the destination surface.

Can the Lateral Transfer Board Be Re-Used?

As the board is easily cleaned with standard disinfectant and water, there is no limit to how many times the board can be re-used. However, the board should be inspected between uses for signs of wear and tear. Do not use the transfer board if it is visibly damaged.

What Are the Specifications of the Lateral Transfer Board?

  • Safe Working Load: 190kg
  • Weight of Board: 5.2kg
  • May be sterilised using a standard disinfectant and also Sodium Dichloroso-Cyanurate or Sodium Hypo-Chlorite, wipe only and rinse with water.
