The Otto Bock Malleo TriStep Ankle Support provides a systematic rehabilitation of the ankle in a three phase fitting concept using systematic adaption of the stabilising function according to increase in patient mobility.

 The Otto Bock Malleo TriStep Ankle Support is ideal for acute and chronic capsular ligament instability and injuries of the upper and lower ankle such as severe distortion and lateral ligament ruptures.

The Otto Bock Malleo TriStep Ankle Support is also suitable for diseases and injuries of the peroneal tendon and inflammatory and degenerative joint disease of the upper and lower ankle with recurrent irritation or chronic reactive effusion.

Features:

• Auto-adaptive inlet of the orthosis adapts individually to the anatomory of the patient and offers a high lever of wearer comfort.

Phase 1 - Inflammation Phase:

Effects:

• Reducing pain
• Reducing swelling according to the RICE rule

• Foot positioning in a slight pronation and plantigrade position using the foot cup and pronation strap
• Assures sufficient stabilisation

Phase 2 - Proliferation Phase:

• Red stabilising elements and a stabilisation strap guarantee the required level of stability
• Over the course of therapy, the red elements can be replaced with the grey, more flexible ones
• Sports activities are possible, but should first be discussed with the attending physician/physiotherapist - the orthosis must be applied during sports activities
• Continuing to use the positioning splint at night is recommended since the foot automatically drops into the supination position which increases the risk of recurrent ruptures.
   

Phase 3 - Remodulation Phase:

• Improving functional stability and mobility
• Improving coordination and balance
