Who Can Use the StimuLite Silver Cushion?
Designed for people at a lower risk of skin breakdown, the StimuLite Silver cushion is made with two layers of StimuLite honeycomb, which is heavily ventilated to keep the user cool and comfortable. Providing exceptional comfort and stability, this cushion is perfect for wheelchairs, recliners, stadium seating, or anywhere else you may need additional cushioning and support.
What is the Maximum User Weight?
With a maximum user weight of 79.4kg for 41cm width cushions, and 90.7kg for cushions with 43cm width and above, this cushion is suitable for most users.
Ideal for Travel
At just 3.8cm thick and weighing only 450 grams, the StimuLite Silver Cushion can be thrown into a car boot or an aeroplane's overhead compartment. This compact size and light weight make this a perfect travel cushion, giving you the freedom to have comfortable seating whenever you need it.
Can the Cushion Be Washed?
Hygiene is of the utmost importance in a pressure relief wheelchair cushion, as the user can potentially spend long stretches of time sitting on it. The designers of StimuLite Silver cushions recognised this, manufacturing them with naturally antibacterial and antifungal material. Allergen free, the cushion and cover are machine washable with the use of the included laundry bag, making them both hygienic and safe.
Is This Cushion Supplied with a Cover?
Yes, all StimuLite cushions are supplied with a comfortable cover as standard. This cushion is made with breathable, two-way stretch fabric that is designed to move with the skin to reduce the shear and friction forces that can exacerbate pressure sore risk. This knitted fabric cover is antimicrobial, antifungal, and machine washable to ensure a high level of hygiene is maintained.

How Does StimuLite Honeycomb Reduce Pressure?
StimuLite cushions are made with a soft, flexible form of aerospace honeycomb that has 'memory', is lightweight, and distributes weight evenly along its surface. Its cellular matrix consists of alternating thick and thin walled cells that flex when compressed to relieve pressure. When a user sits on a StimuLite cushion, the compressed cells radiate outwards to surround and support the anatomy, self-adjusting to each individual and providing excellent stability.
How Breathable Are StimuLite Cushions?
StimuLite honeycomb features a unique ventilation system consisting of tiny perforations in the cell walls, allowing air to circulate both horizontally and vertically. This creates an ideal microclimate for long-term sitting comfort, helping to reduce sweat and moisture to minimise shear and friction forces on the skin. StimuLite has a proven track record among wheelchair users, where performance is critical to preventing life-threatening skin breakdown.
Maceration Resistance
StimuLite honeycomb is perforated, enabling air to circulate and moisture to evaporate, thus helping to maintain skin integrity. The 'footprint' of the honeycomb cells on the user's skin, along with their flexing action, help to stimulate blood flow and enhance circulation.
Pressure Relief and Shear Reduction
StimuLite honeycomb works to relieve pressure by distributing it away from hot spots. Due to this, bony protuberances experience the same pressure as the surrounding anatomy, eliminating potential problem areas. The honeycomb conforms to body shape, distributes weight evenly, and stabilises the user in any position. The cells align themselves with the body to flex and unflex, moving with the skin and reducing dangerous shearing forces.
What If I Require More Back Support?
When adjusting to any new wheelchair cushion, you may find that your chair's back support feels slightly different, and you may require the use of an additional back support for maximum comfort.
