Maximum user weight is 91Kg for the 41 x 41cm size and 102Kg for the 43cm wide sizes and above.
Extra Comfort for Active, Sensitive Skin
Featuring a soft top layer of specially engineered honeycomb, fused to a bottom layer, the Slimline XS is made specially for those with sensitive skin. With a design catering to the active user, this cushion features 7cm thick StimuLite honeycomb, ventilated for temperature control and added comfort. Constructed with a low profile, and weighing only 1.4Kg, this light and comfortable cushion's compliant honeycomb cells contour to body shape, enabling bony protuberances to freely sink into the cushion, while supporting the surrounding anatomy.
Hygienic and Machine Washable
Hygiene is of the utmost importance in a pressure relief wheelchair cushion, as the user can potentially spend long stretches of time sitting on it. The designers of StimuLite Slimline XS cushions recognised this, manufacturing them with naturally antibacterial and antifungal material that's machine washable with the use of a laundry bag, which is supplied with your cushion.
Is This Cushion Supplied with a Cover?
Yes, all Stimulite cushions are supplied with a comfortable cover as standard. This cushion is made with breathable, two-way stretch fabric that is designed to move with the skin to reduce the shear and friction forces that can exacerbate pressure sore risk. This knitted fabric cover is antimicrobial, antifungal, and machine washable to ensure a high level of hygiene is maintained.
Aerospace Honeycomb
StimuLite cushions are made with a soft, flexible form of aerospace honeycomb that has 'memory', is lightweight, and distributes weight evenly along its surface. Its cellular matrix consists of alternating thick and thin walled cells that flex when compressed to relieve pressure. When a user sits on a StimuLite cushion, the compressed cells radiate outwards to surround and support the anatomy, self-adjusting to each individual and providing excellent stability.
A unique ventilation system consisting of tiny perforations in the cell walls allows air to circulate both horizontally and vertically, creating an ideal microclimate for long-term sitting comfort. StimuLite has a proven track record among wheelchair users, where performance is critical to prevent life-threatening skin breakdown.
Maceration Resistance
StimuLite honeycomb is perforated, enabling air to circulate and moisture to evaporate, thus helping to maintain skin integrity. The 'footprint' of the honeycomb cells and their flexing action stimulate blood flow, enhancing circulation.
Pressure Relief and Shear Reduction
StimuLite honeycomb works to relieve pressure by distributing it away from hot spots. Due to this, bony protuberances experience the same pressure as the surrounding anatomy, eliminating potential problem areas. The honeycomb conforms to body shape, distributes weight evenly, and stabilises the user in any position. The cells align themselves with the body to flex and unflex, moving with the skin and reducing dangerous shearing forces.
What If I Require More Back Support?
When adjusting to any new wheelchair cushion, you may find that your chair's back support feels slightly different, and you may require the use of an additional back support for maximum comfort. In these cases, we recommend the Lumbar Support for StimuLite Wheelchair Cushions, which can be placed on your current wheelchair to provide better back support.
