Pressure Relief Bed Fleece
When you're susceptible to pressure sores and ulcers, it's integral that you keep your skin dry and allow it to breathe. The Pressure Relief Bed Fleece is made from 100% pure new wool, which has the unique ability of being able to absorb perspiration and keep the skin dry. Unlike polyester, real wool is exothermic and can absorb up to 33% of its own weight in moisture without feeling damp so your skin can breathe more effectively.
What's Included?
Key Features and Benefits
- Made from 100% pure new wool with a woven polyester backing
- Absorbs perspiration to keep skin dry and enables skin to breathe
- Pile has a depth of approximately 1 inch (or roughly 3cm) to spread pressure evenly
- Covers are pre-treated and can therefore be autoclaved or washed at up to 40°C
- Can be washed up to 50 times and still provide softness and comfort
- Makes an excellent 'interface' on beds and chairs
Comfortable Design
Wool will not feel cold even when damp, allowing you to remain warm and comfortable during use. As real wool has a remarkable natural resilience and the real lamb's wool found in the cover distributes pressure more evenly, the fleece offers immediate and comfortable relief from pressure. The bed fleece also has a soft feel that prevents friction burns from occurring.

Will the Pressure Relief Fleece Keep Me Cool?
The Pressure Relief Bed Fleece works to keep you cool, preventing overheating by absorbing persperation in order to keep you sleeping peacefully. However, if you need a topper specifically targeted towards symptoms of menopause, try the Layer of Air Cooling Mattress Topper. By creating a cooling layer between you and your mattress, the Topper specifically targets:
- Aggressive hot flushes
- Night sweats
- Hyperthyroidism
Is the Thorpe Mill Bed Fleece Sheepskin?
While this fleece is made with genuine lambs wool, it features a woven polyester backing, and not sheepskin. This allows the user to enjoy the soft and comfortable benefits of wool, with the affordability and washability of other materials.
Versatile Pressure Relief Fleece
The Pressure Relief Fleece is ideal for the relief and prevention of pressure sores and pressure ulcers. Versatile in design, the fleece can be used to cover the entire sleeping area or specific parts of the sleeping area where the body is most prone to pressure sores. This makes it suitable for use on your bed, chair, sofa, a wheelchair, and any other sitting or lying area.
Can I Trim the Bed Fleece?
It is possible to trim the Pressure Relief Bed Fleece if you would like a bespoke fit. Please note that trimming can cause fraying at the edges of the fleece.
How Do I Wash My Thorpe Mill Bed Fleece?
We recommend washing your Pressure Relief Bed Fleece on a "wool cycle" when necessary. For best results:
- Wash on a wool cycle with a wool friendly detergent to eliminate any odour or smell before use
- Tumble dry on a low heat setting or air dry
- Do not bleach in any circumstances
- For effective drying, we recommend line drying your Pressure Relief Fleece
If your machine does not have a "wool cycle" setting, we recommend washing your fleece using a cold water cycle to prevent damage and loss of material.
