Emfit Tonic Clonic Seizure Monitor with Bed Sensor Mat

Caring for a patient with epilepsy is hard work. There is no down time, no holidays and no opportunity for a good night sleep. The Emfit Tonic Clonic Seizure Monitor with Bed Sensor Mat is an ideal way of monitoring a patient and being alerted to a fit without having to watch over them constantly. You can rest assured knowing a signal will sound as soon as a fit occurs.

The alarm detects seizures as well as serving as a bed leaving alarm. Positioned under the mattress, it monitors the movements using patented sensor technology and sounds an alarm when fast or sudden actions are felt. There are a range of pagers and receivers available to suit your requirements.

What's Included?

  • 1 x Control Unit
  • 1 x Bed Sensor Mat
  • 1 x Wall Mounting Bracket
  • 1 x Hanging Bracket
  • 1 x User Guide
  • 2 x AA Batteries
  • 1 x 5V Mains PSU Plug

How Does the Emfit Seizure Mat Work?

Designed to detect and prevent seizures in a person whilst they are in bed, the Emfit Seizure Mat uses patented sensor technology to detect abnormal movements over a pre-set amount of time. The mat connects to the provided alarm which alerts caregivers or parents when an individual is having a seizure.

Where Does the Emfit Mat Go?

The Emfit Seizure Detection Mat is designed to sit unobtrusively underneath your mattress. This prevents exposure damage and ensures the user isn't constantly in contact with it.

Care Home and Hospital Usage

Patients prone to seizures need a high level of around the clock care to ensure they are not left vulnerable when an episode is induced. The alarm system that connects to the sensor mat alerts the caregiver to the presence of any abnormal movements, meaning patients can be routinely checked on when these alerts sound.

What Style of Mattress Will the Emfit Seizure Mat Fit Under?

The Emfit Seizure Mat is designed to fit underneath most styles, thicknesses and shapes of mattress. It can be used with memory foam, pocket sprung, double thickness or ultra-thin style mattresses.

While the Emfit Seizure Mat can be used successfully with some styles of airflow mattress, we cannot guarantee that it will work with all airflow mattresses.

Does the Emfit Seizure Monitor and Alarm Require WiFi?

No, the Emfit Alarm System does not require a WiFi connection to work as intended. You can securely and correctly use the system without access to the internet.

Pre-Set Threshold Limits

The Emfit Seizure Prevention Mat comes equipped with the ability to register pre-set threshold limits that mean a certain level of prolonged movement must be met before the alarm alerts a caregiver. This means the individual can safely toss, turn and get up to use the toilet or move around without the sensor associating this with a seizure or episode.

The sensor is incredibly sensitive, meaning it can detect changes in breath and heartbeat. When a person has faster and longer continued movements than the pre-set thresholds, such as those caused by a seizure.

My son was diagnosed with epilepsy a few months ago and it disrupted everything including his sleep. We were worried about trying something as he is very underweight but this sensor goes to below 15kg and it has been able to alert promptly and now he can enjoy a restful sleep in his own bed as he always loved to do before this happened and we can rest easy knowing he is safe and that we will be alerted should a seizure happens. Best purchase ever!!

The Unit serves it function., but a plug in and go type approach only really works for the Family homes. Which I assume is the thinking?
However where it has been ordered for a residential service with a high number of people managing the unit does lead to inconsistency in keeping it maintained and checks for issues , Which can make the unit ineffective at times and a resident vulnerable. There are instructions and guides but I believe the provider could provide more assistance or have a rep who could provide guidance. Appreciate the provider is a retailer but feedback to the manufacturer should be given , and arraignments for usage in a residential care setting be more detailed or a direct contact number.
