Oval-8 Finger Splint
After injury to the finger, the small joints of the digit have a tendency to become slightly deformed, so it's important to provide the right support to correct any irregularity that may lead to further issues. The Oval-8 Finger Splint is a plastic multi-purpose finger splint that can be used either way up, providing adjustable support with stabilisation and immobilisation.
This item is for one individual finger splint. The Oval-8 Finger Splint 5 Pack and the Oval-8 Kit containing 44 Oval-8 finger splints are available if you wish to purchase multiple Oval-8 splints.

Does My Condition Affect How I Wear My Splint?
Yes, it absolutely does. To see how you should wear your splint to minimise the pain associated with a range of conditions, please consult the images below:
- Boutonniere Deformity results from an injury to the tendons that are responsible for straightening the middle joint in your finger.
- Crooked finger, or Clinodactyly are both terms referring to the unnatural or abnormal bend in the finger, usually caused by an issue with the smaller bones in the final part of the finger.
- Similar to trigger finger, trigger thumb is a condition that causes pain and stiffness in the thumb, resulting in a loss of mobility and movement.
- Mallet finger is an injury to the end of your finger that causes it to bend inwards towards the palm. It can cause pain, discomfort and issues performing dexterous tasks.
- A swan-necked finger refers to a joint that bends in a shape resembling the neck of a swan. It occurs when the base of the finger flexes in an abnormal fashion.
- Trigger finger affects the tendons in the hand and can cause stiffness and poor mobility in the fingers. It makes bending the joint difficult and performing basic tasks painful.

How Does the Oval-8 Finger Splint Work?
The Oval-8 Finger Splint has been designed to stabilise and immobilise the small joint of your finger following an injury or deformity. This facilitates quick and effective treatment of a range of conditions, preventing your finger from bending uncomfortably while the injury heals.
Each Oval-8 Finger Splint features three points of pressure, which work to support unstable joints and protect healing injuries.
Who Can Use the Oval-8 Finger Splint?
Available in a range of sizes (please see below for sizing information), the Oval-8 is ideal for virtually anybody looking to support a finger joint deformity or injury. Suitable conditions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Arthritis
- Boutonniere Deformities
- Crooked Finger
- Fractures
- Hypermobility (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome)
- Lateral Deviation
- Mallet Finger
- Swan Neck
- Trigger Finger
- Trigger Thumb
Please note that the Oval-8 Finger Splint is not suitable for children under the age of four due to choking hazards.
Easy to Read "Plus" Indication
The Oval 8 Finger Splint features a "+ sign" on the looser end of the splint, giving you a clear and easy-to-read indication regarding the correct way to wear yours depending on your condition.
On Which Joints Can I Wear the Oval-8 Splint?
The Oval-8 finger splint is suitable for both the middle joint and the top joint of your finger (nearest the fingertip). Our guide to How To Wear Your Oval-8 Splint provides a visual guide to ways in which the Oval-8 can be worn on different joints.
Two Sizes In Each Splint
The Oval-8 Finger Splint fits tighter or looser depending on which end you apply first. For example, if the "+ end" is closer to the hand, the splint will fit looser, and visa versa.
Can I Wear the Oval-8 Splint All Day and Night?
Yes! The Oval-8 Finger Splint has been designed for wearing both during the day and at night. This makes it an ideal solution for long-term finger conditions.
Can I Wear Two Oval-8 Splints on One Joint?
Two Oval-8 Finger Splints can be worn on one finger joint where your condition would benefit from this support. For example, a minor non-displaced fracture can be stabilised using two splints. Interlocking a larger splint with a smaller splint helps to immobilise a joint and prevent unwanted movement.
Can I Use Padding with the Oval-8 Finger Splint?
If you find that your Oval-8 Finger Splint is uncomfortable or a little too loose, padding it out can help to improve this. We recommend using a gel tube or similar for comfortable padding and improved fit.
You may also find that turning your Oval-8 around can improve its fit. As the band section of the splint is angled, it can be worn for either a loose or tighter fit. The end of the Oval-8 with the + (plus) symbol is slightly larger and will create a looser fit when put on the finger first.
Can I Get the Oval-8 Finger Splint Wet?
The Oval-8 Finger Splint is fully waterproof, meaning it can be worn in water when washing hands. It is also suitable for wearing while showering and swimming, ensuring you can continue to benefit from the splint throughout the day.
How Hygienic Is the Oval-8 Finger Splint?
The open-air design of the Oval-8 makes it incredibly hygienic to wear as it helps to keep the skin clean and dry. There is also no fabric to harbour germs, and the Oval-8 splint can be hand washed or disinfected with diluted bleach or alcohol.
What Is the Oval-8 Made From?
The Oval-8 Finger Splint is made from polypropylene plastic for good hygiene and comfort. It is also latex free, making it ideal if you're allergic to latex or find using latex-based products to be uncomfortable.
