Fitting Instructions for the Ossur Foot Drop Support
The Ossur Foot Drop Support requires care and attention when it comes to fitting. It is important you follow these instructions to avoid a poorly fitting brace.
Fitting the Standard Version
1. Start by measuring the circumference of your ankle to find the correct size for you. See the sizing table above.
2. Next, apply the ankle strap with the narrow hook and loop strip at the bottom. Then, place the ankle strap above the widest part of the ankle and fasten tightly.

3. Place the inlay between the tongue and shoelaces and pull the strap between lace lines.
4. Correct the ankle strap and the inlay by pushing the two parts of the quick-acting closure together as indicated in picture four.

Shoeless Version Available
The Ossur Foot Up can be worn without shoes. If you wish to purchase the shoeless version of the support or the attachment that allows you to use this version without shoes, please click either of the links below:
How Does the Ossur Foot Up Help Me Walk?
Designed to counter the effects of drop-foot, the Ossur Foot Up is well suited for people that are suffering from neurological impairments such as a stroke or a condition such as Charcot Marie Tooth. For more information, please watch the video below:
Breathable, Secure Comfort
The Ossur Foot Up Foot Drop Support features two separate parts; a cushioned ankle wrap, comprised of three breathable layers of material, and a plastic inlay that fits discretely between the tongue and laces of a shoe.
The plastic inlay fastens to the ankle wrap with a strong elastic strap and quick-release clip for ease of use. This design also makes the Ossur Foot Up Foot Drop Support very discrete when wearing it with materials that are kind to the skin.
Detachable Plastic Inlay
The plastic inlay can be purchased separately, allowing you to leave your insert inside several pairs of shoes. Saving you from having to refit it every time, you can simply apply your Ossur Foot Up around your ankle, and attach it to the inlay via the quick-release clip.
Add-On for Shoeless Use
An Ossur Foot Up Shoeless Add-on is available and is designed to be used with the Foot Up Support, providing dorsiflexor support when wearing no shoes. It is comprised of a robust and comfortable slim band that fits around the foot so the Foot Up Drop Foot Support can be attached to it.

What Are the Causes of Foot Drop?
The root cause of the overwhelming majority of foot-drop cases is an instability, weakness or injury to the muscles sitting at the front of the leg. These muscles control upward movement which can become inhibited in the event of damage or neurological impairment.
Drop foot can also be traced back to a number of neurological conditions like:
- Myositis
- Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease
- Spinal Muscular Atrophy
- Stroke
- Nerve Damage
Can You Recover From Foot Drop?
The good news is that you can make a full recovery from foot drop if the prognosis of this underlying condition is good. If it isn't, you can manage your condition using a combination of physiotherapy and posturing aids.
What If the Foot Up Does Not Fit My Shoe?
For open shoes, or shoes without laces, it is possible to use the shoeless add-on to achieve a secure and comfortable fit. The Ossure Foot Up and Shoeless Bundle is a great value way to purchase both the Foot Up and add-on at once.
