How Do I Use This Ice Pack Wrap?

Simply freeze the ice pack inserts, insert them into the ice pack wrap, and wrap it around the leg securing with the elasticated straps. The ice inserts of this ice pack for knee are constructed from gel cells that freeze.

Due to the folding design of the the ice pack insert, your knee receives the benefits of cold therapy on both sides. This wrapping effect ensures that your knee has the maximum chance of recovering from injury.

All Dura Soft Ice Pack Wraps can effectively penetrate surgical dressings to decrease pain, swelling and secondary hypoxic tissue injury.

How Rigid Is This Knee Ice Pack?

The gel is divided into two halves, which allow you to bend the two inserts around the leg, to achieve good contact with the knee and leg for effective cold therapy. While this ice pack is more rigid than standard gel freezer packs, its design gives it a good measure of flexibility.

Can I Use It for Cold Therapy?

To use this ice pack for cold therapy, please follow the instructions below:

1. Place the gel insert in a resealable bag
2. Place the bag with the inserts in the freezer until the gel insert is frozen solid
3. Apply the wrap to the area of treatment by attaching the Velcro fastener to the outer wrap fabric
4. The straps should be applied with enough strength to keep the wrap in place and provide desired compression

Can I Use It for Heat Therapy?

Yes, you can use this ice pack for heat therapy as well. Place the insert in a deep pan, and run hot tap water into the pan until the insert is covered, and keep it immersed for 3 to 5 minutes.

Apply the wrap to the area of treatment by attaching the Velcro fastener to outer wrap fabric. The straps should be applied with enough strength to keep the wrap in place and provide desired compression.

Are There Any Contraindications I Should Be Aware Of?

• Any cold products may cause injuries, such as blisters, frostbite, and skin or tissue necrosis if improperly used.
• The temperature of the hot insert should be comfortably warm. If it is too hot to the touch, it may cause burns.
• Extreme care must be taken when using any cold or heat therapy, especially for children, elderly, diabetics, or those with decreased skin sensitivity, or poor circulation due to cardiovascular diseases, medications, tobacco and alcohol use.
• If redness, numbness, burning, pain, or tingling sensation increases, or unusual reactions like burns, blisters, discoloration, swelling or other reaction in skin appearance occurs during use, consult your GP immediately.
