How Do I Use the Cuff?
For a step-by-step guide on how to use the cuff, please follow the instructions below:
Step One: Prepare the Cooler
Before you can start treatment, you must begin by setting up the cooler. Start by connecting the blue tube to the cooler. Fill the cooler to the line with water and top with ice. Place the insulation disk on top of the ice and gently close the cooler lid. Allow up to five minutes for the water to cool before use.
Step Two: Apply the Cuff
If better mobility is required, open the cuff straps and remove the cuff bars before inserting your hand. (See figure 1).
Decide which thumb hole to use before positioning your hand into the cuff. (See figure 2).
Secure your hand into place using the straps provided, starting with the finger straps and working your way up the arm. (See figure 3).
Step Three: Fill the Cuff
Connect the blue tube with the cooler. If using the standard Aircast Cold Therapy Cooler, open the air vent and raise the cooler approximately thirty-eight centimetres above the cuff.
Hold the cooler in place for about thirty seconds until the cuff is full of water and close the cooler air vent. Using the metal tab, disconnect the cooler from the cuff to allow uninterrupted treatment.
Step Four: Rechill Water
Reconnect the blue tube with the cuff and raise the cuff above the cooler to allow it to drain. Allow the water to chill for up to two minutes before raising the cooler to begin treatment.
For more detailed information on the cuff and how to use it, please see the user manual below:
How Long Can I Use the Cuff For?
You can use the cuff for up to two hours per treatment. It is recommended that you leave at least twenty minutes between each therapy session to allow for recovery.
Can I Apply the Cuff Directly onto My Skin?
No, you must cover the affected area with a bandage or cloth to create a bridge between the skin and the cuff. It is vital that the skin does not come into contact with the cuff during treatment to avoid risk of skin burn.
How Do I Clean the Cuff?
To clean, simply wash with soap and hot water before rinsing and leaving to air dry. This process can be used to clean the blue tube and cooler units also.
