Why We Love It: The Bellman Audio Neck Loop reduces background noise that is all too common for hearing aid wearers. Designed to drown out surround sound while amplifying direct sounds, this loop drastically enhances your hearing experience. We particularly love this tool for conversations, since it is designed to clarify human voices and speech, helping you to feel included in conversations again.

Not the Best For: This neck loop does such a good job at sound filtration that it can make a more general everyday listening experience difficult. It's therefore not ideal for watching TV; for that alternative, keep reading or check out our best Home Loop Systems. Please also note that this product only works to amplify conversations and other wireless audio sources with the Bellman Personal Amplifier

  • Easy to use with compact design
  • Fixed system not suitable for use on the go

Why We Love It: With no physical connection between the TV or audio equipment (using a loop or T program on behind the ear and in ear hearing aids), the Sarabec LA240 Home Loop System allows users to freely move around. This allows for a significantly more convenient and intuitive solution to TV watching, restoring a sense of normality for the user. Using magnetic sound waves, this system transmits sound inductively for direct, uninterrupted sound into the loop facility that is easy and clear to hear without annoying the neighbours!

Not the Best For: This system is fixed, making it unsuitable for on the go use or for transporting around in public. See our best Portable Neck Loops and Hands-Free Loop Systems as great alternatives, or just keep scrolling!

Best Portable Loop System

Sarabec LA90 Portable Loop System

Sarabec LA90 Portable Loop System

  • Ideal solution for hearing aid users
  • Speech clarity in noisy situations
  • Additional microphone
  • For meetings, checkouts, interviews
Dispatched in 1-3 days
£145.97
plus FREE UK deliveryFull details

Why We Love It: Loop systems should work around you, and not the other way round. So many public spaces, however, fail to configure proper looping systems, excluding the hard of hearing from day to day activities. The Sarabec LA90 Portable Loop System clarifies speech in noisy situations, with a built-in microphone for things like meetings, checkouts and interviews. Working by picking up sound just about anywhere, this system amplifies one on one conversations wherever they're needed, giving you discretion without compromising clarity.

Not the Best For: While this pack is the most portable hearing loop system for use in loud areas and crowded spaces, it's a little heavy for use for just one on one conversations. As a result, we'd recommend a smaller, more compact hearing aid loop system like the Hands Free Neck Loop System or the Personal Neck Loop.

What Is a Neck Loop?

A neck hearing loop, also known as one form of an induction loop or audio induction loop, is an assistive listening system that improves sound transmission for people with hearing loss, specifically for people with hearing aids or cochlear implants with a T-coil (also known as a telecoil). Hearing loops minimise external sounds that are found in public spaces, and clarify direct sound – making them extremely helpful for individuals with hearing impairments when out and about in public areas. Neck loops specifically work by hanging around people's necks and transmitting sound directly into the ear, for uninterrupted sound that they can tune in and out to.

How Do Induction Loops Work?

It should be noted that areas must be 'looped' in order for induction loops to work. When the hearing aid, cochlea implant or T-coil user switches their device to the T-coil mode, they can hear the audio directly in their hearing device. This eradicates the need for often awkward or indiscreet receivers or headphones, making their lives a lot easier, more convenient and inclusive.

Where Are Hearing Loops Used?

Hearing loops are used in most public spaces, such as theatres, shopping centres, public transport, conference rooms and many other areas to provide better accessibility and inclusivity for individuals with hearing impairments. They are designed to be user friendly so that anyone can operate them (especially older individuals who might struggle with technology), for the most intuitive hearing amplification. The above neck loops are more designed for wear by individual people rather than being installed by companies to improve accessibility in buildings and public spaces (as is the case for general hearing loops).
